Tasty Thursday with Tori: Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

Original Author: Tori Copeland, Lawrence County | Adapted for Blog: Torrie Smith, Van Buren County

Tori Copeland is the Lawrence County Extension Agent - Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H. Every Thursday she will be bringing you a healthy new recipe to try with your family.

Lean ground beef (90% Lean Meat and 10% fat) provides 17 grams of protein per 3 oz serving and is also an excellent source of iron. Ground beef should always be cooked thoroughly until no pink color remains and reaches a temperature of 160℉. After the meat has been cooked, drain the excess grease into a disposable container and place in the garbage. Do NOT pour grease down the sink! If ground beef is usually too pricey for your budget, wait until it goes on sale to purchase then freeze it in 1 pound portions to use in recipes like the one below!

Step one:

Preheat oven to 400°F. Coat 9-inch pie pan with non-stick cooking spray. Cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned; drain off any grease.
