A Bargain for Frances - Kids & Money Series

by Katie Cullum

You can find this book at the Searcy Library. It's available for purchase online.  This book is written for children ages 5 and up.

The goal of the books in this series (check out all of them in Teaching Money Lessons with Books ) is to help parents talk to their children about money.  This story focuses on three financial concepts - decision making, goal setting, and problem solving.  And it also gets into being a good friend!

Synopsis: Wehn Thelma tricks Frances into buying her tea set, Frances gets mad!  Can Frances show Thelma that it's better to lose a bargain than to lose a friend?

Download this Parent Guide to get discussion questions, activities to reinforce, and more information on the financial concepts.  Here's a Spanish version also!

If you don't have the book, you can watch the video below WITH your kids!  Then discuss the ideas from the Parent Guide.
