The Ox-Cart Man - Kids & Money

by Katie Cullum

You can find this book at the Searcy Library or online for purchase.  This book is geared for children ages 4 and up.

The goal of the books in this series (which includes the Trouble with Money and Just Shopping with Mom), along with a little more about the series in Teaching Money Lessons with Books ) is to help parents talk to their children about money.   This story focuses on two different financial concepts - allocating resources and goal setting.

Synopsis:  A farm family uses their time, energy, and skills to make or grow almost everything they need.  They also make and grow other things to take to market and sell.  We may not live on a farm like this family but we all have time, energy, and skills that we can use for our family.

Download this Parent Guide to get discussion questions, activities to reinforce, and more information on the financial concepts.

If you don't have the book, you can watch the video below WITH your kids!  Then discuss the ideas from the Parent Guide.
