by Original Content: Kylie Harris, Searcy County | Adapted for Blog: Katie Cullum, White County
Letting your kids get their hands messy creates great opportunities for learning! The creating of play dough teaches kids about mixtures, solutions and chemical reactions. Their play dough can then become great avenues for pretend play and creative art outlets. These are wonderful for your child’s creativity and growth.

Recipe:
- ¼ cup of salt
- 1 cup of flour
- ¼ cup of water
- Combine the salt, flour, and water in a large mixing bowl.
- Knead or stir the mixture until it is like clay consistency. You may need to add more water (careful!).
- Divide the dough into as many pieces as you would like colors. Add food coloring to each piece of dough to get the color you would like.
- Make a sculpture out of your dough and let sit overnight to dry (or keep in airtight container).
