LeadAR Class 19 Members Continue Their Learning Journey Virtually
Dr. Jay Barth, chief education officer for the city of Little Rock, provided a current and historical overview of Arkansas for LeadAR Class 19 members during their January 15 meetup.
One interesting fact shared during the session was that of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates being the largest owner of farmland in the United States, including a large portion of farm land in Arkansas. Demographics in Arkansas' different regions and challenges of being a leader in those areas was also discussed.
Class members also learned about public speaking from a former communications professor. Dr. Christy Standerfer, a professor emerita at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, shared important resources to prepare participants for impromptu speaking.
Have you heard of a Pixar Pitch?
In "To Sell is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others," author Daniel Pink describes how to use a narrative pitch to engage others.
LeadAR class members will be practicing their storytelling skills throughout the program. The next LeadAR session is scheduled for February 26, 2021.
