by Kristin Higgins - February 26, 2019

Front cover of Stone County, Arkansas local ballot issue fact sheetEarly voting starts next week for voters in Stone County in a local election on a proposed bond issue and sales tax.

The two ballot questions appearing on the countywide ballot are part of the county's plan to pay for a new county jail. In Arkansas, a new county sales tax must be approved by the voters.

Early voting starts March 5 and Election Day is March 12, 2019. For more information about the election, read our fact sheet on the Stone County Jail Sales Tax and Bond Election

The fact sheet includes an example of the ballot title, some frequently asked questions, and a summary of what supporters and opponents say about the proposals.

The Public Policy Center helps Arkansans better understand the financial, social or policy implications of a proposed law by publishing research-based fact sheets and by offering educational programs at the county level. Our goals are to increase voter participation and help Arkansans feel confident in their vote.
