cover of fact sheet about craighead county arkansas electionVoters in Craighead County are deciding whether to combine the treasurer and tax collector position into one elected office in the upcoming November election.

The Public Policy Center at the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture partnered with the Craighead County Extension Office to produce a fact sheet explaining the proposal.

The proposal on the ballot asks voters for permission to combine the two elected county roles into one. If approved a single elected official would be sworn in as Collector/Treasurer in January 2031.

The two roles are among nine county executive positions that voters elect to four-year terms. Amendment 55 of the Arkansas Constitution allows quorum courts to create, consolidate, separate, revise, or abandon any elective county office but requires voter approval during a general election.
