Arkansas APEX Accelerator Success Story: Swept Away Cleaning C.R.E.W

by Kim Magee - June 1, 2023

In government contracting, Arkansas APEX Accelerator encourages business clients to start by subcontracting.

Subcontracting allows small businesses to sell to the government by partnering with a large business prime contractor. That is exactly how owner Eva Williams with Swept Away Cleaning C.R.E.W in DeWitt started on her government contracting journey. At the point where she was ready to venture into prime contracting, she encountered obstacles while trying to work through the necessary requirements.

Williams reached out to numerous organizations multiple times, including the Federal Service Desk, before discovering the services offered by Arkansas APEX Accelerator in November 2022.  She was assigned to Procurement Counselor Tim Hicks.

Williams worked unsuccessfully on her own to resolve her System for Award Management (SAM) issues for several weeks. Hicks suggested he make a telephone call, with Williams included in the call. By the end of that telephone call, her SAM registration was approved! Williams mentioned being in tears at the end of that telephone call as it was such a relief to have a resolution.

“When I had done things incorrectly, Tim knew exactly how to correct my mistakes,” she said.

With all the necessary requirements met to be a prime government contractor, Williams bid and received a U.S. Department of Agriculture contract in December 2022. The contract is with Harry K. Dupree Stuttgart National Aquacultural Research Center (SNARC) and consists of janitorial services for their offices, labs, and fish breeding areas. This employment is currently the sole employment for the company.

Arkansas APEX Accelerator would like to congratulate Williams and her business on her success as she dove into prime contracting and was awarded her first government contract as a prime contractor.
