2013 Cooperative Extension Service Retiree Scholarship Awarded
During the Retiree Luncheon held March 28, Extension's retirees awarded scholarships to two Extension employees: Leigh Ann Bullington and Cally Shore.
Bullington is a county extension agent – family and consumer sciences, Cross County, and is pursuing a Master of Agriculture and Extension Education at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She acknowledged the uniqueness of her role as an extension educator. "It is not typical classroom teaching, and you teach both youth and adult audiences in a mostly informal style." Bullington acknowledged that her pursuit of this degree will help her be a more productive county extension agent. One of her interests is to conduct research in co-parenting education to start classes for parents with minor children who are going through a divorce.
Shore is pursuing a degree at Black River Technical College, with plans to transfer to the University of Arkansas to complete a Bachelor's in Human Resource Development. Since she began working with Extension as a 4-H program assistant in Randolph County, Shore realized the importance of a college degree. Shore shares the knowledge and experience she gains to help mold the youth she works with into contributing citizens. "I feel very blessed to be part of an institution that has such an impact on our youth."
