Virtual field trips to bring hands-on soil health & water conservation research to Internet participants

STUTTGART, Ark. – Experts and researchers with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture will be presenting two virtual field trips on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and are inviting anyone with an Internet connection to follow along.
The two consecutive events — the first at 9 a.m., the second at 11 a.m. — will feature presentations from several Division of Agriculture experts, as well as professionals in the field of agriculture. Each live, interactive event will be one hour in length. Participation in both events is free of charge.
The first field day will give an overview of the Arkansas Discovery Farm Program, which partners with volunteer growers across the state to monitor edge-of-field runoff in order to fine-tune the use of nutrients in crop production and work to eliminate excess nutrients in water leaving the farms.
The second field day will feature cover the water quality and soil health practices used on discovery farms across the state to enhance both profitability and sustainability in farming. Both virtual field trips will be delivered through the Zoom platform.
