StarPal

Tambero
Provides cattle management for farmers, allows for multiple species of animals and crops, field notes, and comments. 

AccuGlobe
A free GIS software that comes with extensions like farmland calculator, data explorer and elections system to suit the requirements of a wide user base.

AGIS
This software can be used for vector based mapping and making on-screen measurements. It can be enhanced to provide animation, web serving and connectivity to other databases through a scripting language.

DIVA-GIS
A free GIS software that can be used for many different purposes. It is particularly useful for mapping and analyzing biodiversity data, such as the distribution of species, or other point-distributions.

fGIS
A free GIS software that was designed to suit the requirement of natural resource managers who are not GIS specialists. Since September 2005, it is no longer supported by original developers of the software.

GRASS
Geographic Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS) is a free GIS software used for geospatial data management and analysis, image processing, graphics/maps production, spatial modeling, and visualization.

JUMP
Provides a graphic user interface (GUI) for viewing and manipulating spatial data sets.

MapWindow GIS
MapWindow can be used as an alternative desktop GIS, data distribution and for development and sharing of custom data analysis solutions. This freely available software is continually enhanced by the addition of additional functionality by its current users.

ExpressView Browser Plug-in (MrSID) for Windows | LizardTech
This plug-in provides standard Windows Web browsers the ability to natively view MrSID and JPEG2000 images. The graphic user interface allows options such as viewing, magnifying, printing and saving images. ExpressView Browser Plug-in is free for individual use.

QGIS
This open source GIS software runs on Linux, Unix, Mac, and Windows for GIS applications

TatukGIS Viewer
The free TatukGIS Viewer allows viewing most GIS/CAD vector, raster image, and grid file types and most ArcView, ArcExplorer, and MapInfo projects. Users can also control visual layer properties, legend properties, and perform thematic mapping, spatial and attribute querying, custom labeling, on-map measurements, hyper-linking, PDF export and much more.

GeoDa Center 
The GeoDa Center in the Spatial Analysis Laboratory (SAL) at University of Illinois have several open source GIS software.
