FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The 2017 fourth quarter report from the Big Creek Research and Extension Team has been posted and submitted to the Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s office and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.  

The team has been monitoring conditions in Big Creek tributary of the Buffalo National River in Newton County. The report, which covers Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, details conditions at the creek in the area near C&H Hog Farms. The report may be found here: http://bit.ly/2DzFiUl.

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture team has been collecting data at the creek since September 2013. The team is analyzing water samples for the potential presence of E. coli, nitrates, phosphorous and suspended solids. To date, the team has not found any consistent changes in water quality in Big Creek.
