FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lona Robertson, interim dean of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas, and other administrators are taking “Bumpers on the Road” for one-on-one conversations with anyone interested in learning more about the college. They will visit with high school students, alumni and supporters to talk about opportunities and growth at the college.

Robertson, Michelle Pribbernow, coordinator of undergraduate recruitment, Terry Bumgardner, director of development and other members of the dean’s office staff will be in Salon B of the Grand Prairie Center from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 9, with brief welcome remarks at 6 p.m.

Bumpers on the Road invitation

“This area is important to us as a college, and important to the state in terms of agriculture and the economy,” said Robertson. “We’re reaching out to connect with friends and supporters, alumni, high school students who are considering a career in agriculture or the businesses of foods, and employees and staff members of the U of A System Division of Agriculture in the area. We invite anyone who is interested to come out and learn more about who we are and what we do, and if they already know, to just enjoy good conversation.”

High school students, teachers and counselors will learn about educational majors, options and career choices, and about scholarship opportunities. Bumpers College offers 12 academic majors and 21 minors, all focused on food, family and the environment. The college also offers approximately 500 scholarships worth more than $500,000 each year.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP to Assistant Director of Development Melody Kouchehbagh at extrel@uark.edu or 479-575-7096. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be provided.
