New IPM YouTube Video
by Aaron Cato - December 12, 2022
The Horticulture IPM team just released a new YouTube video on the Fruit and Vegetable
YouTube Channel! We demonstrate how to use 3 different insect traps as part of an
effective Integrated Pest Management program. We spend most of the time demonstrating
how to use a Hartstack Trap.
Program Associate Ryan Keiffer gives an instructional walkthrough on how to use pheromone
traps in your vegetable IPM program. We discuss trap placement, materials, and how
to check the traps in your operations.

In 2022 we deployed a group of Hartstack traps across the western half of Arkansas
in specialty crops to monitor for Tomato Fruitworm and Squash Vine Borer. We found
the Hartstack trap (Picture 1 ) to be the most effective trap for monitoring purposes for these species.

Fruitworm moths during key times for pest management options.
Special thank-you to the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program
(SARE) for their support on this project.
