Fishing Derby Scheduled

It is time to enjoy our 2016 4-H Fishing Derby, Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Bobby Ferguson Park. You must pre-register. This activity is open to youth ages 9-19 but cloverbud ages 5-8 may also fish if they bring their own fishing poles.

TEXARKANA, Ark. –

It is time to enjoy our 2016 4-H Fishing Derby. We have scheduled our 4-H Fishing Derby for Thursday, July 7th, 2016. The program will take place at the Four States Fairground, Bobby Ferguson Park with registration from 8:15 – 9:00 A.M. Registration ends at 9:00 AM – no exceptions! Competition will begin at 9:00 A.M.

If you plan to attend our Derby, you must pre-register by calling our office at (870) 779-3609 or emailing Skroll@uada.edu, no later than 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 5th.   We have 150 fishing poles that will be issued on a first come, first serve basis; however, if you have your own fishing pole, please bring it and you will be permitted to fish in the Derby. We will have all other fishing supplies that are required.

This competition is open only to 4-H aged youth from 9-19. Cloverbud aged youth of 5 to 8 may fish if they provide their own equipment but they are not eligible for prizes. For safety purposes, no flip-flops/sandals and no sagging pants will be allowed for this event. Only youth may fish.  

This activity is coordinated by the University Of Arkansas Division Of Agriculture, and sponsored by Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and Miller County Conservation District.
