Grant County is a small rural county. The Grant County Extension service provides a wide variety of services, from the home owner with questions about their lawn, to landowner planning to raise livestock for the first time.

Grant County 4-H

The 4-H mission is to provide opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge,develop life skills, form attitudes, and practice behavior that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society.  Grant County 4-H has many programs that is offered to youth.  Some of the program areas include science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).  Many of our youth are involved in their own projects.  Some of their projects include technology, photography, livestock, wildlife, and leadership.  We have clubs that fit the needs of every 4-Her.

4-H clubs in Grant County:

  • 4th H Cooking Club—This club for ages 9-19 teaches basic cooking and baking skills. They also compete in competitions throughout the year.

  • Cloverbud Club—Introductory club for ages 5-8 that prepares for regular 4-H club membership. They learn how to conduct talks and demonstrations, make crafts, and much more.

  • Home Grown Club—This club serves our Homeschooled community for ages 5-19 with mid-day meetings. The learn a variety of homesteading techniques and much more.

  • ICO Club—This club serves the ICO community for ages 5-19. They base their education/activities on members interests and projects.

  • Livestock Club—This club for ages 5-19 interested in livestock. They host livestock grooming and showmanship workshops, community service activities, and teach about general livestock management.

  • Outdoor Club—This club for ages 9-19 is for those interested in the outdoors. They will learn about wildlife and other outdoor skills like BB guns, archery, fire starting, etc.

  • Prattsville 4-H Club—This club serves the Prattsville area for ages 5-19 focuses on a variety of interests including livestock skills, outdoor activities, and other 4-H projects.

  • Rabbit & Poultry Club—This club for ages 5-19 focus on skills in caring for, handling, grooming, showmanship, and all things poultry and rabbit related.

  • Horse Club—This club for ages 5-19 focus on skills in caring for, handling, riding, showmanship, and all things horse related.

  • Shooting Sports Club—This club for ages 12-19 is designed to give youth thorough, safe instruction and training in the use of firearms and teach conservation principles.

  • Tech Clubs—These are afterschool clubs (5th-9th grade)that focus on the SeaPerch project. You must apply for these clubs through the school.

  • Yellowjacket Club—This club for ages 9-19 is a community club that enjoys project based meetings, community service work, and a lot of fun activities, especially with new technology.
