Income Tax School Helps Tax Preparers Prepare for Tax Season

As we move closer to the holidays, we also move closer to the start of the new year — and the start of tax season.

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension offers a two-day Income Tax School that provides tax preparers and anyone else interested in advanced income tax preparation with the latest updates in the tax code.

Five opportunities before the end of 2017

The Income Tax School will be held in five cities around Arkansas, including:

· Fayetteville, Arkansas—Nov. 13-14 at The Chancellor Hotel

· Fort Smith, Arkansas—Nov. 16-17 at the Fort Smith Convention Center

· Jonesboro, Arkansas—Nov. 27-28 at the Hilton Garden Inn

· Little Rock, Arkansas—Nov. 30-Dec.1 at the U of A Division of Agricultural Cooperative Extension Service

· Hot Springs, Arkansas—Dec. 4-5 at the Clarion Resort on the Lake

Registration starts at 8 a.m. on the first day and is $220. Class runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. A certificate of attendance will be awarded after class is dismissed on the second day.

Face-to-Face Opportunity

We are one of a limited number of face-to-face training opportunities offered in Arkansas. Our coordinator and instructors not only offer instruction to the participants during the trainings, but also offer support throughout the year as needed.

The instructors, Carl and Vickie Becker, are tax experts with extensive experience with the IRS. Carl Becker worked for the IRS for 28 years and Vickie Becker is a former CPA and 30-year IRS employee.

The course is also approved by the IRS as a continuing education provider. Participants can earn 16 hours of continuing professional education credit, including two hours of ethics.
