APAC Success Story: Parker Land and Timber Company, Incorporated
Parker Land and Timber Company, a Malvern-based business, was started in 2002 by Larry Parker. Initially, the business was involved in coordinating timber management and timber sales for landowners. Larry’s son, Ryan, who previously worked for the U.S. Forest Service, joined his father in the business in 2005. He made other attempts at outside employment, but was drawn to the family business and kept coming back. As for Larry, he has now mostly retired but does assist in the business when needed and the business has become primarily a timber sale preparation contractor. Parker Land and Timber Company became an Arkansas Procurement Assistance Center client in November 2016. Even though they are fairly new APAC clients, they are dedicated business owners and were recently awarded five timber sale preparation government contracts totaling $205,000. Therefore, most of Parker’s business in 2017, will be from these government contracts. Ryan was excited to call and inform us of his contract awards and wished to express his appreciation to APAC counselor, Mary Love, for walking them through the process of becoming qualified to bid for government contracts. Congratulations to Parker Land and Timber Company. We wish you much success in fulfilling the obligations of your contracts.
